As I’m sure many of you are aware, the 2020 Census begins this month. The Census Bureau takers are officially employed by the Department of Commerce. The law requires cooperation with census takers as provided for in 13 U.S.C. §223.
The Crosby must allow census bureau takers access to the community. We want to assure you that the gate staff will be requiring evidence that the person is a census taker by showing a valid ID badge. Census takers will be accessing the community to drop off paper questionnaires to each residence. If no one is home, the census taker will leave the questionnaire at your front door. You can identify the census taker by asking for their ID badge which should have their photograph, a U.S. Department of Commerce watermark, and an expiration date. If you still have concerns about their identity, you can contact the Regional Census Center to speak with a Census Bureau representative. The Los Angeles office serves all of California. The number is (213) 314-6500.
We have been notified that this will be begin Monday, March 16th, and census takers will be onsite for approximately two days.
